PROFESSIONAL CYCLING CHAMPION ‘GIVES BACK’ BY
LAUNCHING STUDENT CYCLING CLUBS AT
TWO AREA HIGH SCHOOLS
LOS ANGELES
(September 20, 2014) – Championship cyclist Rashaan Bahati and the
Bahati Foundation, recently launched Adopt-a-School and GivingBACK Programs, at
two area high schools.
The cycling clubs, which will be mentored by Bahati, President and Founder of the
Bahati Foundation, were established at James Monroe Magnet High School, LA Unified
School District and Verbum Dei High School, Jesuit Work Study College Prep in Los
Angeles.

“These kids probably were not aware that there was a professional cycling champion
right here in their neighborhood. Rahsaan’s success enabling him to GivingBACK, is
exemplified by the Bahati foundation’s commitment to partner with us and offer their
resources to our boys. They certainly have proven themselves by working diligently to
transcend the obstacles facing our students ,” said Lorenz Willis, Dean, Admissions,
Outreach and Recruitment, Verbum Dei, H.S.
The initial goal of the foundation is to establish Bahati Foundation Student Cycling
Clubs (BFSCC ) to expose students to the sport of cycling as an alternative to traditional
sports activities, while promoting bike safety, health and fitness.
The Bahati Foundation provides various outreach programs designed to provide exposure
and motivation for inner-city youths. “With all the budget cuts public schools have faced,
over the last few years, I am so proud that we are able to enhance the opportunity for
achievement through our cycling clubs,” stated Rahsaan Bahati, Founder and President of
the Foundation.

BFSCC activities will include trips to the Los Angeles Velodrome for instruction, club
rides, bike training/safety clinics, guest speakers, healthy eating habits and much more.
In addition to specific club activities, the foundation in conjunction with the schools will
launch its Safe Routes To School campaign for students who need to travel on their own
back and forth to campus.
