Celebrating the 1st Annual Walk + Ride + Roll to School Day at Emerson Elementary

Exciting News from the Bahati Foundation!

We're thrilled to announce the inaugural Walk + Ride + Roll to School Day at Emerson Elementary School, taking place on Friday, May 31, 2024. This event marks the Bahati Foundation’s first official entry on the national Walk Bike & Roll to School Day calendar.

What to Expect

Students at Emerson Elementary, located at 1011 E. Caldwell Street, Compton, CA, will have a unique opportunity to celebrate National Bike Month by walking, biking, skateboarding, or scootering to school. This initiative promotes physical activity and eco-friendly transportation options, aligning with our mission to foster healthy habits and environmental awareness.

Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles

"Our give-back play-equity movement event promotes physical activity and healthy habits and encourages students to explore eco-friendly transportation options," says Nassoma Bahati, our Student Outreach Director. This day is all about inspiring our young ones to embrace a healthier lifestyle while having a blast.

With over 600 excited students from grades K-8 expected to participate, this event is set to be a day filled with joy, movement, and positive energy. It’s more than just a day; it’s a step towards a lasting change in our community.

Event Highlights

The event will feature a short program starting at 11:15 am on-site at Emerson Elementary. We are honored to have speakers from SAFE (Streets Are for Everyone), Rahsaan Bahati, our founder and 10-time U.S. Champion Pro Cyclist, and other key Play-Equity partners who will share their insights and encouragement.
