Harlem Skyscraper Classic Celebrates 48th Year with Bike Giveaway and Thrilling Competition
Harlem, New York - The iconic Harlem Skyscraper Classic celebrated its 48th year this past weekend, attracting some of the world's best crit cyclists and enthusiastic spectators. What began as a local initiative by a dedicated police officer to promote youth safety in Harlem has now grown into a prestigious international event. Over 500 professional athletes from around the globe gathered at Marcus Garvey Park to compete in this exciting race.
This year, the Bahati Foundation, in partnership with Black Girls, Do Bike, NYC, added dimension to the festivities. As part of our commitment to giving back to the community, we hosted the #GiveBack Experience - Bike Giveaway and Clinic.
We give a huge thank you to GiantUSA, who sponsored and helped distribute 30 brand-new bikes to bright, young, and deserving student cyclists from the local community. The giveaway was met with sheer joy and excitement as the lucky recipients received their new wheels, helmet, and lock which will undoubtedly inspire them to pursue their passion for cycling and lead active lifestyles.
The event also included a bike clinic where participants had the opportunity to receive expert advice from professional cyclists. This hands-on experience allowed budding riders to hone their skills, learn essential maintenance techniques, and gain valuable insights from experienced mentors. The clinic fostered a sense of camaraderie among participants and further solidified the event's commitment to nurturing the next generation of cyclists.
